You may be more familiar with ‘Little Bread and Butter’ located in Ponsonby central, however, today we went to the Bread and Butter Bakery and Cafe in Grey Lynn, as the bakery and cafe has a full breakfast and lunch menu which we wanted to try, alongside their artisan breads and sweet treats.

The cafe is large with individual and also shared tables, which makes it ideal for groups and families. We particularly liked the baking-theme, with rolling pin door handles and lights designed to look like giant egg whisks.

There was a lot of variety on the menu but the basic smashed avocado on toast, with dukkhah and a poached egg took my fancy. Laura had a berry smoothie and Charlotte had the salt and pepper squid. We thought the food was simple and tasty.

The service was efficient and parking was very easy. It is located behind Farro, making it a one-stop-shop if you’re after any of their fresh produce or gourmet foods. With a casual atmosphere and located away from the hustle of Ponsonby road, we think it’s another great cafe in the area to keep in mind! Particularly when you’re after somewhere to catchup with friends and family.
